Welcome to the first official SLHVC member email.

Call me crazy, but I had a pretty good year.

The first half of 2020 was the second half of my first year living in Lead and marked the occasion of me moving from a “just-get-through-it-and-pay-the-bills” job to a really spectacular position within the community, where I had the chance to start meeting more of the wonderful residents of the town and gain a sense of belonging.

This is the year I met my neighbors, forged new and lasting friendships, and for the first time since leaving the Navy nine years ago, truly felt that I found home. Our family loves it here and we are looking forward to years of getting to know you better and becoming more and more a part of the fabric of Lead. And with a last name like Golden in this town…it is providential isn’t it? Who am I to let a little virus put a damper on all the good things that have happened?

Though I have only been on staff here at the Sanford Lab Homestake Visitor Center for a short time, I am excited for what 2021 holds not only for our organization but for the community of Lead as a whole. We are preparing some exciting programs and events and planning the way forward for the SLHVC membership program. If you happen by the Visitor Center, please stop in and say hi. I am always ready for a cup of coffee and a chat with our members. Or if you have any other questions or comments, contact me at [email protected]

Here is to a bright new year!
