The best laid plans of mice…
How are those resolutions coming? I was asked the other day if I was starting a February diet, which in context was not insulting, but it made me think. This is normally the time of year where those well-intended but ill-advised resolutions go out the window. I did not make any, so I cannot report success or failure, only an inability to decide.
Or perhaps in line with Sierra’s Chamber of Commerce email from last month I should ask—did you pick the right word of the year? I try not to take life too seriously, so my word of the year was “cellophane”. Lo and behold we ran out of Tupperware lids while boxing up holiday leftovers and I was in business. That, my friends, is what you call an unmitigated success.
I can say this, if your resolution was to be bored or your word for the year was “meh”, then the SLHVC is not the place for you right now. We just wrapped up hosting some great events for the Lead Area Chamber of Commerce as well as an event or two on our own behalf as part of Winterfest. SLHVC is the place to be!
February will be no less enjoyable, only the activities will be less concentrated. See below for a list of upcoming events.
More excitement: The SLHVC found exciting new sponsors! Please join me in thanking South Dakota Mines, Homestake Mining Company, Thyssen Mining, and Monument Health for supporting the SLHVC in January. They join Danny’s Plumbing, Black Hill’s Mining Museum, Deadwood History, and Illustra Advisory in their commitment to our mission. Support such as theirs keeps our doors open to the over 50K visitors who come to us each year asking what they should do while they are in Lead and makes it possible for us to provide STEAM classes and special events to kids and adults in our community.
To them and to our awesome members: Thank you!
Here is what is coming to SLHVC:
